7 Words
Last night our church celebrated Good Friday service. It is traditional to preach on Jesus' 7 last sayings. Seven people from the congregation each get one, use the verse from the bible that talks about it, then they elaborate on it. Makes sense?
This is my point of view on the 7 words; I kind of copied a little of what they said, word by word:
Luke 23:34
Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing."
-We can be quick to shut someone out of our life because of something they have done to us. Sometimes we can say 'I forgive but I don't forget.' But how many times do we stop to think everything that Jesus went through when he was on earth? He was still able to forgive everybody, and ask the Lord to forgive them. These people didn't know who He really was. The ones that hurt Him didn't believe he was the Savior.
How many times do we keep bitterness inside our hearts by not forgiving something that someone has done to us? Nothing we can possibly live on earth compares to what Jesus went through. He came here to heal, forgive, feed, save, give life to the death, and give us eternal life. His own people paid him back by giving Him death. Jesus still forgave them!
Luke 23:43
Jesus answered him, "Truly I tell you, today will be with me in paradise."
Even when crucified, Jesus didn't abandon His merciful ways. He granted the thief eternal life, because this man recognized and believed that the man standing next to him was the Son of God, the only way to the Lord.
John 19:27
When Jesus saw his mother standing there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, "Woman, here is your son," and to the disciple, "Here is your mother."
These words really touched me. It shows the selflessness Jesus had. He was slowly dying, pouring blood through different holes they made on his body. People all around Him were making fun of Him shouting that He should be able to save Himself from the death and walk down from the cross. None of this stopped Him from worrying about the woman that gave Him human birth. He cared so much for her that even on his darkest hours, He needed to assure her wellbeing. He saw the disciple for whom He had great love, and gave him Mary, Jesus' mother, for him to look after. He knew that she would be fine. The disciple took her to his home.
Matthew 27:46
About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Eli, Eli, lema sabachtani?" (which means "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"
Jesus couldn't back down at this point. He couldn't change His mind now, because He knew the prophecy had to come true. He came to earth as a human being, therefore even being the Son of God, He felt pain. Such pain was so big that He asked the Lord if He had forgotten about His only Son. We might say 'of course He didn't forget about Jesus', but it was a great amount of pain that He was feeling.
John 19:28
Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, "I am thirsty."
Jesus' journey didn't start in the cross. He had to walk miles carrying His own cross on His back. He had to go uphill, sweating, hurting, struggling. If we think about it, as lazy as we have become with the years, we would probably die before getting to the top of the mountain. Jesus' body got weaker by the minute, but He couldn't die there. The prophecy had to be fulfilled. He had to complete His journey to give us Salvation.
John 19:30
When He had received the drink, Jesus said, "It is finished." With that, He bowed his head and gave up His spirit.
Jesus had lost all His strength. He knew that what He had come to earth to do was done. His journey as a human had ended. I can only imagine how things would be if these days we all had to be punished like this every time we sinned. This is how great God's love for us is!

Jesus called out with a loud voice, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit." When He had said this, He breathed His last.
The punishment our Savior received was commonly given to criminals in those days. But before Jesus died things happened. The sun stopped shining and the curtain of the temple was torn. The fact that none of this had happened before, with any other person that had been crucified, proved to many that this man was with no doubt the Son of God. Some people had been changing their minds sine they saw Jesus walk into the city. Non believers were feeling guilty because they had doubted Jesus. Others still didn't agree. Not until He had completely died and His spirit was lifted. But after these phenomenon had occurred they understood who they had been treating like a criminal and impostor the whole time.

Celtics Fan?
My hair was brown with lighter brown highlights. I am determined to go black so I bought 'jet black' semi-permanent color. I didn't know the mixture was gong to result in a complete different color. See it for yourself:

Eggs? Bunnies? I don't get it. I really don't see the connection between the death of our Lord Jesus, to save us, and hunting for candy laid by a bunny. Don't get me wrong, I think it's cute. But how is it related to the real meaning of Easter? Why not celebrate the bunny on a different ocation?
I was talking to my sister the other day and she was telling me that one day, she was talking to our Youth Pastor about the bunny. My sister went on to tell her that it all comes from the day Jesus got out of the tomb. There was a rabbit around that saw Him, and was so surprised that he laid colored eggs! lol (of course I know this is not true...it's only a joke)
When I was growing up, the holy week was about being grateful with the Lord's gift. We would have plays in church about Jesus' last days on earth. We even have traditional meals we eat during this week specially. We would go on a little relaxing vacation, spend time with family, etc. All this without forgetting what we really celebrate this time of the year.
When the Lord blesses me with children, I've decided that I won't celebrate Easter with them the same way is popular in the US. I don't really mind if in school they get candy and the whole deal. But at my house, I'll make sure we celebrate that Jesus Christ died for us, and was risen on the third day, went up to heaven but not before giving us the Holy Spirit to be with us until the end of the world. Nothing bunny related.
God is good, all the time. Remember that!

Wonderful Week
I came across this post and it really caught my attention. At first I thought it was about regular chores at home, which I've been postponing myself. Then I realized the prayers were much deeper. Here it is, enjoy!
Monday is WashDay
Lord, help me wash away all my selfishness and vanity, so I may serve you with perfect humility through the week ahead.
Tuesday is Ironing Day
Dear Lord, help me iron out all the wrinkles of prejudice I have collected through the years, so that I may see the beauty in others.
Wednesday is Mending Day
O God, help me mend my ways so I will not set a bad example for others.
Thursday is Cleaning Day
Lord Jesus, help me to dust out all the many faults I have been hiding in the secret corners of my heart.
Friday is Shopping Day
O God, give me the grace to shop wisely so I may purchase eternal happiness for myself and all others in need of love.
Saturday is Cooking Day
Help me, my Savior, to brew a big kettle of brotherly love and serve it with clean, sweet bread of human kindness.
Sunday is The Lord's Day
O God, I have prepared my house for you. Please come into my heart so I may spend the day and the Rest of my life in your presence.
